Artist Biography
Mina Márquez Ramírez (2001. California, USA) is a self-taught Mexican American artist born and raised in northeast Los Angeles. In the form of acrylic paintings, she explores themes of intimacy, violence, interconnectedness, and contradiction.
Mina graduated from the University of California in Santa Cruz in 2023, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in both Politics and Sociology, studies she believes to inform her work.
Working on her art is both a personal endeavor and an act of political resistance. In a society where it is shameful to pursue activities that are not economically productive or socially predictable, it is empowering to work on projects so authentic to who she is.
In spring of 2025, Mina completed an artist residency in Mexico City. She is currently seeking opportunities that blend together her love of politics and art.
